Oh wow, I remember those 'Chinese' coffin where both ends sort of curve up. I read this at 2.40 am with a cool breeze!

God bless your Ah Kong's soul. Amen.

My kong kong passed away when I was young, my father's side I only remembered by a photo too and the various chinese couplets he wrote when he was alive, my mother's I was fortunate to remember bouncing o his knee and now too only reduced to memories and a picture hanging from the wall. Heirlooms should be treasured, they bring back memories and keep the past alive and in touch. Thanks for sharing such a cherished memory of your ah kong, it's lovely.

It's a beautiful blog. I never knew my grandparents. Both sets passed away before I was born.

I never got to know both grand-dads of my father's and mother's side of the family. Fortunately, I get to hear stories about them too from my parents (especially my dad's). And, every visit to my late grandfather's grave during Cheng Ming festival would seemed to be an unforgettable experience.

Thanks for sharing the story.May God bless your Ah Kong's soul.

Cheers!

lilian,
Thank you.

Wingz,
:)

Kervin,
Each of these keepsakes holds a piece of our past. They are more than priceless. It has been so long. I wish I can remember more.

yingci,
I am sure they are beautiful memories. :D

bkworm,
Thank you.

sHee,
Both my parents are no longer here anymore. That makes is rather difficult to learn more about my grandparents. Cherish yours. They are the link to your past.

jeffrey,
You are welcome. I hope you are keeping well.
