(peter, did you go to the new church?) the shrine long ago, before the new church was up, used to be so crowded with pilgrims lining up with candles. i remember once i was there with the crowd, getting cramped and sweaty and it get so hot i nearly fainted. and another time, my hair nearly got burned from somone's else candle! now it's easy to go to the shrine as it is no longer crowded. i was there on saturday but did not take pictures of the church/people as last year i had already taken so many pictures. i never missed making a pilgrimage to st anne's feast. this is a picture of the old church, now known as the shrine.
