this is a picture of the old church, now known as the shrine. (peter, did you go to the new church?) the shrine long ago, before the new church was up, used to be so crowded with pilgrims lining up with candles. i remember once i was there with the crowd, getting cramped and sweaty and it get so hot i nearly fainted. and another time, my hair nearly got burned from somone's else candle! now it's easy to go to the shrine as it is no longer crowded.

i was there on saturday but did not take pictures of the church/people as last year i had already taken so many pictures.

i never missed making a pilgrimage to st anne's feast.

It's so cool that you got to go visit after so many years. Why were salt and pepper distributed in the old days?

lucia,
I remember those times. The crowd inside the old church/shrine was always a problem, especially the candle flames.

Marita,
Yes, being in the church again was such an exhilaration. I am not sure about the salt and pepper. Will check it out.

Kuzco,
Let me ask around and see.
