Live 8

Saturday, July 2nd, 2005

This entry is a plug for Live 8. The text and banner below are from Live 8. I got to know about this worthy cause from an email I got from Nick Lezin. Please support this cause in any way you can. Every life is worth saving. MAKE POVERTY HISTORY.

Every day 50,000 people die of extreme poverty. Now, we have the power to end this tragedy—not with our money, but with our voices. On July 6, leaders from the world’s most powerful countries are gathering in Edinburgh, Scotland for the historic G8 Summit. They’ll discuss plans to increase aid to poor countries, eliminate debts, make trade laws fair—and, as a result, save millions of lives all over the world. But they’ll only act if enough people tell them to. Visit AOLMusic.com now to learn more about Live 8, add your name to the Live 8 List: —and find out how we can become the generation that makes poverty history.

MyKad

Friday, July 1st, 2005

After more than three futile months of waiting for the card from the Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara Malaysia to inform me that my identity card is ready, I checked its status online at Sistem Semakan Status Permohonan MyKad. I was at Wuans place at that time. It showed that my identity card was ready for collection. Today, after Peter had dropped Wuan off for her journey back, he took me to the Sungai Ara office to collect it.

Missing Kuala Lumpur

Friday, July 1st, 2005

Night panoramic view of Kuala Lumpur from Bukit Permai.

After one month together, Wuan and I had to say our goodbyes again. It is back to the dreary routines. Life in Penang will not be as interesting as it was in Kuala Lumpur. I certainly will miss William and Cynthia’s company. Many evenings we have had dinner together at places Wuan and I would never thought of going. The last evening before we were to leave for Penang, William took us up to Bukit Permai to see the view of the Klang Valley. I will never forget what I saw from up there. It was simply breathtaking.

The many bloggers I met at the Mid Valley Bloggers Meet and PPS 2nd Anniversary Bash made this trip even more memorable. I am planning to make another trip to Kuala Lumpur, most probably after my medical check up in end-August. Hopefully, the condition of my kidneys do not deteriorate further. Eating out is difficult as it is. William, Cynthia and Wuan had to find places where food can be ordered a la carte so that we could get the kitchen to cook food to suit my diet.
