Red Box For Suanie

March 10th, 2006 - Friday

Postbox in Nakhon Pathom

We went on a field trip to the Nakhon Pathom Disabled Association. The journey there took nearly two hours by bus. There were stalls selling pomelos and soft toys along one stretch of the highway. The ride was bumpy. The weather was hot. This association is running a centre for independent living. The centre is situated beside a canal. Tamarind trees lined the banks. This postbox stood by the roadside like little Red Riding Hood waiting for the big bad wolf to appear.

This post is dedicated to Suanie. It reminded me of her. It reminded me of the huge cylindrical postboxes we have back home. I just do not know why.

    i’m a red post box
    big and tall
    i don’t have locks
    i don’t look like a ball
    i used to be popular
    until the IT age
    when pen and paper
    were all the rage
    now i’m reduced
    to just being there
    most people just refuse
    to utilise me fair
what a pity for the witty
city to city country to country
a mere click of the mouse is all it takes
to send off a badly written email in haste
gone are the days of good old thoughts
    making way for impersonal keyboards
    clickety click click clickety click
my rhyme is over, i make my exit

    Peter:
    *Applause*
