You tell them peter. I so agree with you that they should get priorities right. How many disabled people need to be able to get from A to B before they need to fly..I mean how often air travel before public transport.

Peter:
Good question!

Its good to see that there is progress for the disabled community in Malaysia. However, the claim that AirAsia is "setting the benchmark" is way off the mark. Please have a look at how the world's largest budget airline (not AirAsia) has been working together with the disabled community for many years to faciliate disabled travelers and travelers with special needs. http://www.southwest.com/travel_center/disability.html

The key is that airlines, as well as other public forms of transportation, should PUBLISH their policies and then FOLLOW THROUGH with their policies. In the case of AirAsia, they have a long way yet to go before they can even begin to claim they are "setting the benchmark".

Peter:
I agree with you that publishing policies on disabled passengers will eliminate a lot of confusion and anxieties. The claim of "setting the benchmark" is just blowing its own trumpet. There are still unresolved issues that even BEAT had overlooked or are unaware of despite the claim to represent 18 disability-related NGOs.

This is definitely a very good idea. They should really make themselves more equipped to assist disabled people.
