Whichever way we take to backup the database just make sure it’s not distorted and restorable. Database upgrade done during WordPress upgrade is not reversible so better be safe than sorry. :)

Sorry is when her webhost’s harddisk crashed and she did not have a recent backup. We learnt a lot from that did we not?

Yea, I also tested WordPress Core Updater on my server and it worked with just 1 click! No more uploading and file overwriting from WP2.7 onwards. Yeay! But still backup is a step that should not be neglected even with this super easy upgrade feature.

You can use one of those automated backup plugins and send to your email account to save the hassle of having to do it manually.
