Itchy Pox

January 8th, 2009 - Thursday

Arrgh. The lesions in the face and scalp are beginning to itch. I do not know if it is a good thing I do not have itch sensation from the upper chest downards. This may just accentuate the itch in the areas where I have sensation. I have been told not to scratch. Tell me, how is it possible not to scratch an itch? The two sores that I busted earlier are still hurting. Looks like they are going to be two deep scars after they have healed.

Looks like the itchy pox is suffering you. Have you see any doctor for that?

    Peter:
No, I have not see a doctor. I have a stash of anti-histamines and Panadols just for situations like this. :D

Go to the pharmacy and get pintarsol. It should be readily available and doesn’t need a prescription. It a dark brown liquid made from pine tar and when applied to the skin, relieves itch very effectively.
Guaranteed relief from itch, only thing is the smell may not be the best in the world.Try it, works instantly.

    Peter:
You are trying to get me banished to sleeping in the living room huh. But I will check it out anyway. Thanks for the tips.

Oh dear… get well soon. My brother also got “the pox” as an adult… really no fun. He was prescribed Acycloguanosine.

    Peter:
You are right. I am NOT enjoying myself. :/

the older you are when you get your pox, the more you suffer, unfortunately.

My three kids and the big man had the pox the year before last and I could still everyone seemed not being able to sit still! At night when you’re in bed, the itch is the worst isn’t it?

Use camomile lotion.. lots and lots of it.. just keep dabbing it onto the spots that itch.. and if you have to scratch, don’t scratch on the pox itself, just the skin surrounding it. If you burst it ah, you will leave scars.

    Peter:
The itching started today. I am trying veeeeery had not to scratch but sometimes it is a reflex action.

  6. Bryan Says:

Use the strength of your mind to control lah. Scratch that time syiok, if it busted you’ll feel the torturing pain and it’ll leave scar too. It’s really suffering having pox as an adult. I pray for you so the clock ticks faster, okay.

    Peter:
    Wah, mind control pulak.

  7. Owen Says:

Try scratching a piece of wood when it feels really bad – it’s not a great help but it’s a bit of a distraction.

    Peter:
Of all the tips, this takes the pie. I will try but I guess it is going to make the itch even worsce. :)
