Ten Years Of Loving And Still Counting

Ten years ago today, I travelled from Penang to Kuala Lumpur all by myself. It was an unprecendented journey as I had never travelled alone since my spinal cord injury. I was slated to spend three days and had arranged to meet some friends. We had met over the Internet in an IRC chatroom.

Most of all, I was prompted to make that journey to meet the one person that I had been chatting with in the same channel everyday for four months. I am glad I took up the courage to make that trip. We certainly have come a long way from that day when I nervously held on to the boarding pass at the airport, not knowing what would happen. I had no expectations whatsoever.

Ten years on now, we are basking in marital bliss. Ours is a story that I expected to happen only in a soap opera. She has given me so much joy since. I could not have asked for a better friend, confidant, lover, wife and everything in between. She is my pillar of strength. She is the wind beneath my wings. She is God-sent. Here is a toast to many more ten years for us!
