Malaysia On Sale

Practically every store in major shopping complexes is offering up to 70% discount. It is a temptation that is difficult to resist for many. Luckily, I am way past the urge to buy like no tomorrow at every sale. There was a time when I would go on a shopping spree and end up with clothes that I hardly wear and things that I seldom use. I have learnt my lesson. There is a sale somewhere throughout the year anyway. I am immune to it already. Now, I buy just what I need, not because it is 70% cheaper. Wise I am to these but life has lost some of the excitement that cheap sales used to evoke. If you ask me, wisdom kills excitement.

  1. 70% off inflated price is not a bargain. You’d go down to the shops and find the marked down items are either yesteryear items or odds and ends.I find the real bargains are the sales in US where its really marked down. They’d have the early bird specials where the shops open at 6am in the morning and the discounts are really genuine. If only it was the same here, then it’d really be a shoppers paradise and you’d have to sell the house and the kitchen sink to feed your plastic card.I do my shopping online nowadays-its more cost effective and they deliver to your doorstep.

Yup, the marked down items here are usually end-of-season stock that the shops want to get rid of. And as I have noticed, people no longer flock to these sale as there are a few every month. It is so common that it has lost its novelty.

  2. It’s more than that, Peter. The sale is not as good as the first year. The shops are no longer giving genuine discounts. I usually buy those I need on offer. If they’re not on offer, I wouldn’t buy them. I wouldn’t drop RM100 (NP) for a nice headphone. =)

I guess they should have sale ONCE a year?

    Peter:
    They should!

  3. i have had the same thought as you, that wisdom kills excitement.

or wisdom creates a kind of jadedness, although that sounds too negative ;)

    Peter:
I guess we should learn to loosen up a little and go hog wild once in a while huh!
