Abandoned Kitten From Pandan Perdana Market

Wuan rescued a kitten from the Pandan Perdana market last Sunday. It was mewing incessantly near a garbage bin. It was scrawny, scruffy and looked so fragile. As we had to go out, we left her with Fei Por in the compound. Unfortunately, Fei Por was not interested in mothering over the kitten as she did with Cheeky. When we came back in the evening, the kitten was nowhere in sight. We searched around the neighbourhood for a couple of hours without success.

This morning, Wuan found the kitten a few houses away. It had a dislocated shoulder. Its front right leg was dangling limply to the body. I do not know how Wuan did it but she managed to pop the shoulder back into the socket. She left for work after that. The kitten was confined alone in Cheeky’s room for the whole day. We converted one bathroom for Cheeky to live in. We were not too sure how Cheeky would take to it as he can be rather aggresive at times. We though it was better to keep the two apart first.

It was walking normally when we checked on him just now. It was as if nothing happened. It could even climb up the one step from Cheeky’s room to the hallway. We are glad it is fine now. We still cannot make out its gender. We would love to adopt it ourselves but we cannot possibly look after another cat. We are going to take him to the vet this weekend to have it put up for adoption. Hopefully he will get a good home.

  1. Poor cat. And all the authorities know is to catch dogs. Phbt.

    Peter:
I hope cat owners will be more responsible and get their animals neutered/spayed to reduce the number of unwanted and abandoned kittens, and strays. It breaks my heart to see kittens so tiny having to fend for themselves.

  2. This kitten has a thick fur.It will be a real good looking cat when it grows up.Its quite rare to have a kitten with thick fur.I will keep it if i were you.

    Peter:
We would love to but we cannot possibly keep another one.

  3. Oh my, what a sight~ Pity the kitty, really.. it breaks my heart to see such kittens in such bad conditions.. What you and Wuan did are really noble, and I am also puzzled how Wuan managed to pop the shoulder back! :O The last pic tells a thousand words.. I wish it smooth sailing after this!

Btw, didnt know you go to Perdana to do marketing there 😀

    Peter:
I stay in Pandan Perdana mah. As for the dislocated shoulder, Wuan also did not know how she did it, maybe from watching movies and tv kua. 🙂

  4. Well, Peter, I think that’d be impossible, considering the cat owners may have bought the cats on impulse. *disappointed face*

While I agree with Danny Foo, I must make one point here. You know who make up the municipal council and the animal that they love. They catch dogs because, I guess, they hate dogs. What I can hope for all the dogs and cats is that the authorities will start tightening the rules and learn to catch cats as well. [Bias world.]

    Peter:
It could be possible to get pet owners to have their pets neutered/spayed if they are educated and made aware of the problems.

  5. I am sorry to hear that the kitten died. It looked like it was in bad shape. I have been to Pandan Perdana and seen kittens in the market. It is a sad sight since most of them don’t make it to adulthood. If they do, it is a rough life. Is very kind of Wuan to rescue it.

I have 3 cats. They are all adopted. They eat and sleep about 18 hours a day. They have an easy life. In the US, about 85% of the cats in the animal control centers are put down if no one claims/adopts them. We have to educate people to neuter or spay their pets.
