2010 In Review
Friday, December 31st, 2010This is going to be a short one. I like 2010. It has been a slow year, no doubt, but I like the unhurried pace. My only regret is that I did not blog often enough although I had meant to. There have been so many instances that I would have loved to chronicle. Now they are irretrievably lost.
There have been some issues with my health, nothing serious or worrisome though. My kidneys are holding up. That is good news. I am thankful that Wuan takes the trouble to cook healthy and nutritious food for me every working day. That, in part, has contributed to maintaining my renal health.
We had planned to do some travelling overseas. Unfortunately our schedules did not permit that. In a way, not having the time to travel beyond the border was a blessing. The money saved went to getting myself a new and very expensive wheelchair later in the year when the cross brace of my wheelchair fractured right through. I am still using it pending the arrival of the new chair in January next year.
It is only fitting that I end the year by thanking all my friends, those that I have met in real life and online friends I have yet to meet, for all the encouragement and also for making my life more colourful throughout the year. Happy New Year. May 2011 bring more blessings to you like how you have blessed me with your friendship during the year.

KUB Ultrasound For December 2010
Friday, December 31st, 2010Report for the KUB (kidneys, ureters and bladder) ultrasound done on December 27, 2010 at UMMC:
Indication:
Neurogenic bladder with renal parenchymal disease.Findings:
Comparison made with previous ultrasound dated 11.2.2010.
Both kidneys are increased in echogenicity. Right kidney measures 8.6 cm in bipolar length and left kidney measures 9.1 cm in bipolar length. A small cyst is seen in the right kidney, measuring 0.5 x 0.5 cm. No renal calculi or hydronephrosis. Urinary bladder is underfilled and the wall is trabeculated.Impression:
1. Echogenic kidneys which may represent parenchymal disease.
2. Renal right cyst.
3. Trabeculated bladder wall.
Generally, I would say that there is little change from the previous ultrasound. That is good news for now. Together with the slightly better results for the renal profile done on August 2010, I am happy. These are good news to close the year with.

Orianthi guitar picks in a card.
The last time I held any of these between my fingers was many years ago. I used to have a whole collection of them, in all colours, sizes and thickness. Wuan showed me the card and asked me what it was. It came with the CDs that she bought. One look and I knew what they unmistakably were; four Orianthi guitar picks that could be broken off from the card.
Not knowing who Orianthis is, I searched for her in YouTube and was thoroughly impressed with her guitar skills. Watching her play made me wish I could do the same again. When I was happy, I played the guitar. When I was sad, I played the guitar, too. Now, whenever I rolled pass a musical instrument shop, I could only look at the polished guitars on display and reminisce about the times when I held one in my hands, coaxed melodies out of the strings and sang the songs of my life.
