Systematic Evacuation Plan Update

The planned meeting with the Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang (MPPP) did not materialise. However Raja Munir sent me a message informing me that he managed to speak with three officers from three different departments of the MPPP. They claimed that the problem was not within their jurisdiction. Raja Munir will follow-up with them on which agencies are responsible for this problem and hopefully arrange a meeting again.

I also received a letter from the Chief Minister’s Office today. This is regarding the letter that I sent to Dato’ Seri Shahrizat and copied to the Chief Minister. Hopefully, the Chief Minister or any of the State Executive Councillors responsible for the safety of the people of Penang will seriously look into this problem and come out with a solution.

  1. It’s really great that you and many other people are leading the way for better facilities for disabled people. I hope that the relevant authorities will take this very seriously, and implement changes where necessary. Malaysia has a long way to go before it can be haven for physical equality in every aspect, but I’m glad that there are people like you who are doing something about it.

  2. cynical-idealist,
True. Malaysia still has a long way to go in providing sufficient facilities for the physically challenged. There are many organisations that are pushing for better amenities for such people. It is a long and bumpy road. I do what I can because I am also one of them. If there is anything that I learnt from being paralysed for twenty years is that we have to fight our own battles because we know what we truly need. I genuinely pray that some good things will come out of this.

  3. Andreas,
Thanks for the support. I would not have made it this far without Mack pushing me from behind.
