Haze in Penang

Photo taken at 2:35pm today.

Photo taken on July 10, 2005.

After many days of enjoying clear skies and clean air, the haze is finally here. There were strong winds and some rain early this morning. When I spoke to Wuan around 11am just now, it was already getting hazy. Visibility was still good. I could still see the hills in the distance which is about 10km or more from here.

At around 2.30pm, as Minishorts and I were chatting, the air was beginning to smell foul. I looked out and visibility has been reduced to 5km or less. As I am typing this visibility is getting poorer and poorer. There is a gentle breeze but it smells.

  1. yeah, the sky is clearer today too.

but penang’s haze isn’t as bad as kl. yesterday was especially bad. today the sun is out & we can see blue sky…!!!

  2. so sorry for the condition in penang, kl seems much clearer now and we’re greatly thankful… i pray you’ll get through the haze… god bless…

  3. ya i notice the haze too. too bad. well, it’s expected though so no shock. just hope it won’t be as bad ask in kl/klang.

  4. Looks like haze is shifting to penang!! But shouldn’t be as bad as in kl/selangor… Too bad the wind is shifting the haze over there, but I’m grateful the situation here in kl/selangor looks more promising than the previous days. It’s really disappointing to wake up everyday just to find the condition has worsen, as if it wasn’t bad enough already. =(
