Global Voices: Jeff Ooi and Mack Zulkifli Interview

Mack Zulkifli’s entry IRC Interview of Malaysian Bloggers caught my attention. This open interview concept is interesting. Rebecca MacKinnon, a journalist who was formerly with CNN, was to interview Jeff Ooi and Mack Zulkifli via the Internet Relay Chat. Audience participation was encouraged after the interview proper. What transpired during the session was an eye opener. Read the transcript.

Mack has an entry on me titled A Malaysian on a global soapbox. Rebecca MacKinnon has also put up two entries on me. Perspective on Schiavo from a Malaysian Roman Catholic is an entry in her blog RConversation. The other Introducing Peter Tan is at Global Voices Online.

The introduction at the site states that “Global Voices is an international effort to diversify the conversation taking place online by involving speakers from around the world, and developing tools, institutions and relationships to help make these voices heard.”

Jeff Ooi and Mack Zulkifli were given the honour to be in the inaugural Global Voices Online interview. Evidently Malaysian bloggers like them are not only creating waves at home but globally as well. This is reason enough for us to be proud. Hopefully this will spur more local bloggers to write about issues that matters.
