The Good News And The Good News

The anxieties of the past weeks have been laid to rest. The low-protein diet, intermittent catheterisation and Destrusitol have arrested the deterioration of my kidneys. While waiting for a blood sample to be taken, Ms. Saw, the dietician, bumped into me and asked how I was and at the same time gave me a few words of advice regarding my diet. Dr. Liong was happy with the results. He did an ultrasound of my kidneys and bladder. The left kidney was slightly swollen but according to him that was nothing to be worried about. Additionally, he recommended a new type of catheter that can be easily stored and kept sterile, especially for travelling. It is called the All Silicone Clean Intermittent Catheterization Set. I may do a short review when I begin using it.

The better than expected results have lifted my spirits. I am not out of the woods yet but any positive news regarding my kidneys is enough to cheer me up. Now I can go to Kuala Lumpur with a light heart. My next scheduled check up is four months away. In the meantime, I will maintain my dietary, catheterisation and medical regiments. It has worked to prevent further damage. I had prayed for divine intervention, so have many who were concerned for my wellbeing. Thank God for answering those prayers. Together with proper medical care and a sensible diet, I hope the condition of my kidneys will stabilise.
