December seemed so far away in January. Everything was bright and sparkling clean then. There was hope. There was optimism. There was a certainty that things would be better than the previous year. And then procrastination got the better of us. There was always another month to accomplish what we set out to do.
Unbeknownst to us, the month of December stealthily crept upon us like a predator stalking its prey. Before we know it, the last month of the year is upon us, here and now. We are consumed by the guilt of not fulfilling the resolutions we made on the first day of the year. This is the month when the sins of omission come visiting and we have no place to hide from it.
There is nothing we can do but to acknowledge that December is here. This is the month of wrapping up, a, month of celebration and a month of reflection before we leap into 21st century’s last year of the first decade. There is one whole month to go through still. So, here is to all things nice in the final lap of 2009 before we sing Auld Lang Syne. But there is this one nagging question in my mind: What happened to the rest of 2009?
