24-Hour Urine Creatinine

24-hour urine creatinine

This is how much urine my body produces in 24 hours. In a short while, I will be sending this to the UMMC laboratory for processing and have my blood sample taken for renal function and creatinine clearance tests. After that, I will be at the Radiology Department to have an ultrasound done on my kidneys. These are to determine the extent of my renal impairment.

  1. Haha, I was handling that for a week last week when I started my job at the path lab. No one else at specimen reception seemed to want to do, so of course they got the new guy to start labeling and pouring out all the samples into a small pot and test tube. I didn’t see what the fuss is about.

Though, you didn’t happen to also do a 24 hour urine with acid in the bottle too did you? That one however does stink up the place.

    Peter:
Urine is just chemical laced water. It is a concentrated form of what we eat. 😛 That was the only test I did. It did not stink because the container was capped all the time except when I needed to fill it up.

  2. hi uncle… will all SCI patients have kidney failures? is the lack of drinking water the cause of kidney failures?

    Peter:
People with spinal cord injury are prone to kidney failure if they have a neurogenic bladder and do nothing to manage this problem. It is important to go for regular check-ups and follow the doctors’ advice for such cases.
