Wuan did not have to go to work last Friday. It was a public holiay. We planned our strategy to attack the Big Bad Book Sale at Amcorp Mall. I had to drag myself out of the bed at 8.30 am. We did not even have a decent breakfast. I parked the car outside Hong Leong Bank at Pandan Perdana. Wuan went to the wet market to get two packets of economy noodles. We ate in the car.

We reached Amcorp Mall at 10 am sharp. To our consternation, there were already more than 100 people waiting in the queue to get into the hall. I have never seen a queue this long. We stood in line waiting for our turn. By the time we reached the entrance, the queue had swelled to 200 people by my estimation. I looked at my watch. It was 10.30 am.

The crowd inside the hall doubly as many in the queue. We spent almost three hours there browsing from aisle to aisle rummaging through the stacks of books. The only books we particularly wanted to get were the Asterix comics. I am particularly fond of Obelix and his cute puppy. Apparently, all the copies were snapped up by the time we found our way to the comics section.

The books we bought from the Big Bad Book Sale.

All in, we bought thirty over books that fitted nicely into one carton box. I do not need to buy anymore books to read for the next three years. The books from the Pearson and Penguin Books Warehouse Sale are still begging to be read. I have only finished two books from that batch. In between that, I have read The Time Traveler’s Wife and am currently reading Holder of the White Lotus.

Equalizer Edward Woodward Dies

Edward Woodward, actor of Equalizer, a popular TV series in the 1980s, passed away today in England at age 79. He spoke with an English accent, rightly so since he was a British, in the role as Robert McCall. I used to watch the show but I cannot recall much now except associating his name to the title of the show. Thank you for the entertainment, Mr. Woodward sir. Rest in peace.

Upgraded To WordPress 2.8.6 Security Release

Just upgraded to WordPress to version 2.8.6. Upgrading the blog engine nowadays is so easy. There are two buttons in the dashboard just for that when an upgrade is released. One button is to allow automatic upgrade while the other is for downloading the zipped files for manual upgrading. Most times, I just let it upgrade automatically without even bothering to backup my database and files. There is a risk of getting my files corrupted but I do a daily backup of the database. Should anything happen, I can easily restore using the backup file.
